We love working with our community! Here's what we do, and what you can help with as well!
The Super Reader Program
We've partnered with the ST. Germain Elementary PTO, the Vilas County Sheriff's Department and Fire Department, and the Plum Lake Ambulance to create the Super Reader Program - a reading program designed to motivate our community school kids to read!
So what do we do? Participating St. Germain Elementary students who read a minimum of 250 minutes a month are entered into a drawing to win a free lunch at Knocker's. Winning participants get to ride to lunch in style with our local volunteer heroes from the Vilas County Sheriff's Department, Plum Lake Ambulance, and Plum Lake Fire Department!
This year, our 4th grade students will also participate in an essay contest about the Reading Heroes program for a chance to win an Amazon Kindle Fire package donated by Knocker's Pizza Company. We see this as a great way to get involved in our community school and encourage our kids along the path of a lifetime of reading advocacy!
St. Germain Volunteer Fire Dept. Fish Fry Benefit
Each year we host the St. Germain Volunteer Fire Department Fish Fry Benefit each year in April! One of their biggest fundraisers of the year, Knnocker's Staff and the Fire Department volunteers teamed up in 2018 to serve over 700 fish fry dinners to our community. The funds raised help aid the department in keeping current on the latest in property and life-saving equipment used by the volunteer men and women who serve on the fire department.
Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club Breakfast Benefit
We host the annual breakfast benefit for the St. Germain Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club. In 2018, we served over 200 snowmobile enthusiasts to raise over $2,000 for the club! The club uses these funds to help fund the grooming of the 100+ miles of trails in the St. Germain area.
The St. Germain Radar Races / Bikini Run
The Radar Run is an area event held every winter for snowmobile enthusiasts featuring radar runs and fun runs, including our Knocker's Bikini Run! The bikini run is an event that helps raise awareness for breast cancer and is a combination fundraiser for the Pink Ribbon Riders, the St. Germain Volunteer Fire Department, and Plum Lake Ambulance.
